I have always felt that I've been overweight my entire life. My brother used to call me Jackie Gleason. I wasn't obese, I just always kind of ate everything and I was overweight. 

As I got older I ate because of a lot of stress. I grew up in the army, my father was in the war. So my mother and I used food as the mechanism to feel better. That's what it is. That's my go-to, that's my stress thing, I eat.

I may not even know that I'm stressed, but as soon as I find that I'm just snacking on all sorts of garbage, then it hits me that something's going on. 

Even though I'm still stress eating, I'm mindful of what I'm eating and make better choices. I don't have a bag of chips because they really don't taste that good anymore. I’ll go get some carrots or yogurt or something, granola, raisins, whatever it is to help with it. And then I come and workout. I try to get those three to four days in per week.

Working out has helped me tremendously to release that stress. When I am stressed out, I just think about, "Let me get to the gym, let me workout because I have a great time there and I feel so much better when I'm done." There may be days when I'm thinking, "Shit it's raining and I don't feel like going." But I think about my gym friends. "I'll see Faith, I'll see Barb, I'll see Margaret." And it's like, "Okay, let's catch up with them and see what's going on, see the coaches." That's what I think about a lot for motivation.

I don't know how I break it. I'm working on that. It's a constant struggle. Whenever I'm stressed out I'll eat stuff. But if I can just eat better things, healthier things then maybe that'll help.
