“I came back and I was able to do everything. It was liberating.”
So the first session I came in for, I couldn't get off the floor because it was extremely painful. It was frightening because I didn't know if I was gonna be able to do this and I knew I needed to.
In my heart and in my brain I knew that I was gonna have to have a hip replacement. It was just a question of when I was going to do it and how I was going to get there. I needed to become strong, and conventional exercise, or whatever I had done before, didn't work.
So that's why I came here. My motivation was to get strong so that I could recover and have that surgery safely. It worked. I was back here, even when I went to PT, in seven weeks and I was able to do things without pain and that completely changed my life.
When I started this process, everything new was scary but I did it. I came back and walked in that door without pain. I remember that somebody who I hadn't seen looked at me and said, "Oh my God, you look so different."
Nothing was different, you couldn't see my new hip. But I didn't have pain.
I felt great, I felt comfortable. I came back and I was able to do everything. It was liberating. Everything was modified and I worked slowly until I got to the point where I thought, ‘Wow, I'm back. I can do it.” Now I can do much more.
This really has given me back the life that I knew that I had and could have. And wanted to have. And that's why I'm here.
