“I have permission to live life and enjoy it. Have fun, watch what I'm doing but I can still have my cake and eat it too.”

“Long after I had cancer I got a new doctor who was telling me ‘You know, you really need to lose weight.’ I was feeling awful, I was sluggish, I was tired. I was embarrassed to go out. But mostly it was the sluggishness. The lingering effects were tightness from scar tissue from the radiation. It became almost like an excuse.

But as I got heavier, then it was like ‘what am I going to do with the rest of my life? I'm going to retire and I'm going to be so overweight that I'm not going to be able to enjoy grandchildren or retirement.’ I kept seeing RD come up on the net. I knew this was the place I needed to be but it just took me a long time to make that plunge to walk through the door.

Cancer was my biggest thing that I ever had to overcome and the problems that it’s caused me in terms of damage from radiation. The pain in my hip; I still have that at times, but I've managed to work through it because of everything you guys have taught me. I have permission to live life and enjoy it. Have fun, watch what I'm doing but I can still have my cake and eat it too.”
