Real Results Part 1: Goal Setting

Unfortunately it is all too common of an occurrence; people working as hard as they think they should, but still not getting the Results they are looking for. What is wrong and why is this happening? Who can we blame? In all reality there could be a million different factors; you personally slacked, you chose to blaze your own path without any guidance, diet wasn’t properly addressed. Maybe you chose the wrong place **cough** your typical “Box Gym,” aka the “Globo Gyms” of the world **cough**. Could it be a combination of these factors? Of course it can. However, in most cases these factors do not address the root cause of the problem. As Steven Covey says, in his book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” you must begin with the end in mind.

“If you don’t make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default.” This advice by Stephen Covey applies directly to the journey toward Real Results. It doesn’t matter how hard you are willing to work, what you are willing to sacrifice, or how much help you have along the way unless you lay the proper foundation. Whether your idea of fitness success is fat loss, muscle/strength gain, reducing aches and pains, or improving overall performance, a few guidelines must be set from the start of the process. This will help to empower yourself and assure you are not blindly working towards your goal. You must have a clear understanding of the following ideas:
